RGUKT ACADEMIC SUITE

RGUKT Grading System Explained

One system, five tools — here's how they connect and which one to reach for.

How RGUKT's Grading System Fits Together

RGUKT's academic performance system has three connected layers, and most confusion comes from not seeing how they link:

  1. Marks → Grade. Each subject's marks convert to a letter grade (Ex, A, B, C, D, P/E, or R/Remedial) using a fixed marks-range table, which in turn maps to a fixed grade point.
  2. Grades → SGPA. Within one semester, every subject's grade point is weighted by its credits and averaged to produce that semester's SGPA.
  3. SGPA → CGPA. Across all completed semesters, each semester's SGPA is weighted by that semester's total credits and averaged to produce your cumulative CGPA.

Every number downstream depends on the one before it — you can't shortcut from marks straight to CGPA without going through grade points and SGPA, which is why RGUKT's official memos report all three separately.

Which Tool to Use at Each Stage

Used in sequence, these five tools cover a full academic-planning cycle: check a grade, roll it into a semester, roll the semester into a cumulative record, plan forward from that record, and review the overall trend.

A Full Example, End to End

A student finishes Semester 3 with a subject-by-subject grade list. They use the RGUKT Grade Calculator to double-check one borderline subject's grade against the marks memo. Once every grade is confirmed, they use the RGUKT SGPA Calculator to get Semester 3's SGPA: 8.4. Adding that to their existing Semester 1–2 record in the RGUKT CGPA Calculator brings their CGPA to 7.9. Wanting to graduate at a CGPA of 8.5, they open the RGUKT CGPA Goal Planner, which tells them they need to average 9.0 SGPA across their remaining five semesters. Finally, the Academic Performance Dashboard shows this goal is realistic given their upward trend since Semester 1, but flags that one subject area has been consistently weaker across all three semesters — worth targeting specifically.

A Note on Accuracy

These tools are built on RGUKT's grading regulations as commonly published and used by students (Ex=10, A=9, B=8, C=7, D=6, P/E=5, R/Remedial=0, with percentage equivalence at CGPA × 10). Grading regulations, credit structures, and division-award rules can be revised by the institution. Always verify your official grade card and current academic regulations against RGUKT's own published circulars before treating any calculator output as final — these tools are for planning and cross-checking, not a substitute for your official transcript.
